Peacock Cottage Talybont on Usk

Peacock Cottage is one of our old farm buildings that we've converted. It's detached, so it's just you out there. It's on our working farm, so you'll see sheep in the fields. There are about 34 acres you can wander on, and the Usk Valley Trail starts right from the gate.

It sleeps six, but that's across three bedrooms and a double futon on the second floor. The futon is in a sort of alcove, so it's a bit of an extra space. The bathroom is on the first floor, with a shower over the bath.

The kitchen and living area is all one open plan room. It's got a dishwasher and a washing machine. The TV has Freeview. Outside the front is a big enclosed patio with a table, chairs, a firepit and a barbecue. It's a good spot in the evening, especially for looking at the stars. We're in a Dark Sky Reserve here, so on a clear night it's very dark.

You're right in Talybont-on-Usk. The village has a really good shop and a café, a bike hire place, and a few pubs that do food. You can walk to them. If you want to cycle, the canal towpath goes all the way into Brecon, which is about five miles.

Brecon has the usual town things: shops, cafes, a cathedral. The Brecon Beacons National Park website is useful for planning walks. For a big day out, you can drive into the central Beacons for Pen y Fan in about half an hour. Abergavenny and the Sugar Loaf are also about half an hour the other way.

Things to know: because it's a converted barn, the stairs are proper steep, especially the ones to the top floor. The towels and bedding are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair. Sorry, no pets.
