Peacock Cottage is a barn we converted on our farm in Talybont-on-Usk. It's detached. The farm's 34 acres, so you can walk straight out onto the Usk Valley Trail from the door. The views are good, right across to the Sugar Loaf and the Black Mountains.
It sleeps up to six, but it's a bit of a mix. There are three bedrooms: a double and a twin on the first floor, and another twin room up on the second floor. That top room also has a double futon if you need extra beds. The stairs to the second floor are quite steep and narrow, just so you know. There's one bathroom, with a shower over the bath.
Downstairs is all open plan: kitchen, living and dining area. It's got a TV with Freeview, a dishwasher, and a washing machine. Outside the front is a big, enclosed patio with a table, chairs, a BBQ and a firepit. You're welcome to wander around the farm tracks. We keep sheep.
You can bring one dog. We include all bedding and towels. There's a cot and a highchair if needed.
The village is a few minutes' drive, or about a twenty minute walk. It's got a really good shop and a cafe, some pubs that do food, and you can hire bikes there. You're right in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Because it's so dark here, it's great for seeing the stars at night.
For things to do, you can cycle the canal path into Brecon, which is about five miles away. Brecon has the usual town stuff: cafes, restaurants, a cathedral. There's horse riding nearby. If you want to drive, Abergavenny is about half an hour, and Hay-on-Wye is just over half an hour.
