Ty Nofio

This place is Ty Nofio, just outside Talybont on Usk, right in the Brecon Beacons. It's a barn we converted a few years back.

It sleeps four, but it's all in one big room upstairs. There's a double bed, a single bed, and a single sofa bed in that same space. You get up there via a spiral staircase. It's a proper metal one, quite steep and narrow.

Downstairs is open plan. The main thing is it's got a small, private swimming pool in the corner of the room. It's about three metres long, heated, just for you. You can have a dip any time. There's a shower room next to it.

Outside, there's a patio with a firepit, a barbecue, and those egg-shaped hanging chairs. You look out over our fields. We've got 34 acres here, and the Usk Valley walking trail starts right at the gate. The views across to the Sugar Loaf mountain are good.

Being in the National Park, it's very dark at night. If you're into star gazing, it's excellent for that.

The village, Talybont-on-Usk, is a short drive away. It's got a really good village shop and cafe, a couple of pubs that do food, and you can hire bikes there. You can cycle the canal path all the way into Brecon, which is about five miles.

If you want to drive, Brecon's about ten minutes. Hay-on-Wye is half an hour for the bookshops. Abergavenny is maybe twenty-five minutes. The main peaks of the Brecon Beacons, like Pen y Fan, are within a thirty minute drive.

Included in the price: bedding, towels, electricity, parking right outside. The pool is maintained for you. No pets, I'm afraid.
