This is Baytree Cottage 1. It’s in Birch Green, Essex. It's semi-detached, next to the other cottage and our own house. It’s quiet here. You get the whole place to yourselves.
It sleeps three, but it's really a one-bedroom cottage. The double bed is upstairs. There's a sofa bed in the living area if you need it. It's got a 3 Star rating. It's neat and clean. The stairs are a bit steep, like most cottage stairs.
There's an open plan living room with a wood burner. We leave you some logs to get you started. It's straightforward inside, with towels and bedding included. You can bring one dog. There's parking on site.
The pub is about 300 yards down the lane. They serve food and real ale. The nearest shop is about four miles away in Coggeshall, so best to bring basics with you.
You're well placed for exploring. Mersea Island is about eight miles. Good for seafood, sailing, and beaches. Colchester is maybe fifteen minutes by car. It’s an old town with a castle, the zoo, and shops. You can get the train to London from there.
For days out, Flatford Mill and Lavenham are lovely. They’re about half an hour’s drive. Good for a walk and a look around.
