Machermore Cottage

Machermore Cottage is in Auchenmalg, right down in the southern bit of Scotland. It's a detached cottage, so no neighbours attached. The view is the main thing. You look out over farmland to Luce Bay. The garden faces west, so you get the sunsets.

It sleeps four. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. It was all renovated a couple of years ago, so it's in good order. It has a 4 Star rating. The entrance and the shower room are on the ground floor and are wheelchair accessible. The stairs inside are normal, not too steep.

The kitchen and living area are open plan. There's a big window in the lounge so you can see the view. You've got a dishwasher and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right there and a store for bikes if you need it.

The cottage is actually on a marked part of the Whithorn Way, which is a long walking and cycling route. So it's good for that. The coast is close. There are quiet beaches around here, like Port William and Monreith. The water is surprisingly mild because of the Gulf Stream.

Within about half an hour's drive you've got a few things. The Logan Botanic Garden is famous and worth a visit. There's golf at the course in Stranraer. The RSPB nature reserve at the Mull of Galloway is at the very southern tip of Scotland. It's good for watching seabirds.
