Harris

This place is called Harris. It's one of the holiday huts on the edge of Stornoway. They're big, wooden cabins. They were built by the owner, who really thought about what you'd need.

It's for two people. One room, with a double bed and a sofa bed. There's a kitchen area, a table, and a decent sized shower room. They look small from the outside but they're surprisingly spacious inside. It has a 3 Star rating. It's clean and functional.

There's a separate hut just for laundry and drying sports gear. It has a dehumidifier and racks. Very useful if you've been walking or cycling in the rain.

The location is good. You're about a ten minute walk from the centre of Stornoway, so you can go for a meal and walk back. Lews Castle and the museum are just down the road. The Saturday market in town is worth a visit.

For getting further out, you'll need a car. The Callanish Standing Stones are about twenty minutes drive. The Blackhouse Village at Garenin is under half an hour. The famous beaches on Harris, like Luskentyre, are about an hour away.

Stornoway has a golf course and some local fishing. The HebCelt festival is in July, and there are various agricultural shows through the summer.

Facilities wise: it's detached, with its own patio. Parking on site. There's WiFi and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. A washing machine is in the laundry hut. You can bring one dog. There's a cot and highchair if you need them.

Important: book your ferry or flight first, before you book the hut. They get full, especially in summer.
