Beachcroft Cottage

Beachcroft Cottage is in Aird Tong, on the Isle of Lewis. It's a detached white cottage, about a ten-minute walk from the beaches. You can see them from the front. The name's a bit misleading because it's not right on the beach, but you can walk there easily.

It sleeps four. One double bedroom, one with twin singles, and a family shower room. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's been renovated, so it's comfortable. The kitchen's small but it has a dishwasher, which is useful if you're all sandy. The patio doors go out to a fenced garden. It's good if you have kids or a dog, but we don't take pets actually.

The garden isn't massive, but it's secure. There's parking right outside.

The beaches themselves are the main thing. White sand, usually empty. The water is very clear, though it's also very cold. The coastal path for walking is right there too.

If you want to explore, Stornoway is about a twenty-minute drive. That's where you'll find supermarkets, like Tesco or the Co-op. The Callanish Stones are about half an hour away by car. They're very good, much bigger than they look in pictures. If you're into history, the Blackhouse Museum at Arnol is on the way. It’s run by Historic Environment Scotland.

The North Harris mountains are probably just over a thirty-minute drive. Excellent walking if you like it rugged.

Facilities wise: everything's included. Bedding, towels, WiFi, TV. There's a washing machine, a cot, and a highchair if you need them.
