Lewis Stornoway

This is the Lewis hut. It's one of a few self-contained studio cabins on the edge of Stornoway. They're good if you're passing through on the Hebridean Way, or for a longer stay. It sleeps two in a double bed. There's a sofa bed too, but it's really best for two people.

The hut is a single, open-plan room. It's surprisingly big inside. You've got the bed, a small kitchenette, a table, and a TV. The shower room is a decent size. It's all on one level.

There's a separate, shared laundry hut with drying racks and a dehumidifier. Useful if you've been hiking or cycling in the rain.

You can walk into Stornoway centre in about ten minutes. That means you can go for a meal or a drink without worrying about driving. There's a market in town on Saturdays. Lews Castle and its museum are just a few minutes' walk away.

For getting around, you really need a car. The Callanish Standing Stones are about twenty minutes drive. The Blackhouse Village at Garenin is under half an hour. The beaches on Harris, like Luskentyre, are under an hour away.

Facilities: there's parking right outside, WiFi, a washing machine in the shared hut, and bedding is provided. You can bring one dog. There's a cot and highchair if you need them.

A couple of things. First, book your ferry or flight before you book the hut. Spaces fill up, especially in summer. Second, the rating is 3 Star. It's clean, warm, and functional. It's not a hotel.
