This is Converted Stable No 2. It’s on our farm in Great Sampford in north Essex. We, the owners, live in the main farmhouse next door. We converted it from a stable in 2019.
It’s a single storey place for two people. One room, really. The main space is open plan, so the bed, sofa, dining table and kitchen are all together. There’s a separate bathroom with a decent shower. It’s 4 Star rated, so it’s comfortable and everything is new, but not huge.
Outside, there’s a private patio with a table and chairs. It looks out over the fields. It’s not walled in, so the views are open. You access it via our gravel driveway. There’s on-site parking.
Facilities are as you’d expect: TV, WiFi, washing machine, bedding and towels are all there. We run a B&B here as well.
The area is very rural and quiet. You can walk straight out from the door. There’s a local pub within walking distance, about ten minutes on foot. It’s friendly.
Finchingfield village is a couple of miles away. It’s the one that often wins the prettiest village awards. The old market towns of Saffron Walden and Thaxted are close. Thaxted has a famous Morris Dancing festival.
Cambridge is about half an hour’s drive. For a day at the races, Newmarket is 40 minutes. There are golf courses nearby and you can arrange horse riding locally.
