Eagles Gate Lodge is just outside Banff. It’s a detached cottage, sleeps six. Three bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom.
It was refurbished a few years ago so the kitchen and bathroom are new. But it’s an old estate lodge, so it still feels like a cottage. The stairs are normal cottage steep.
The sun hits the back garden most of the day. You look out onto farm fields and woodland. Deer from the farm walk past sometimes in the morning. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you have dogs or kids.
Banff town is two miles away. It has a good beach, shops, and places to eat. You can often see dolphins in the bay from the coast there. Macduff is just across the water and has a fishing harbour.
Duff House is about a mile away. It’s a National Trust property, you can walk to it. It has a golf course and parkland. National Trust for Scotland Duff House.
It’s a useful spot for seeing this bit of Aberdeenshire. You’ve got lots of castles nearby, like Findlater and Balvenie. The Whisky Trail is inland if that’s your thing. Aberdeen is about an hour’s drive for a bigger city day out.
