Barn Owl Cottage
Barn Owl Cottage is near Stirling, but it's properly in the country. It's part of a small group of places called Osprey Hideaways. Our bit is detached, a single-storey bungalow. You look right out over our 120-acre loch. The view across the water to the cliffs is the main thing. You might see ospreys fishing.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms, both with walk-in showers. Everything's on the ground floor. It's got a 4 Star rating. The owners keep it very clean and comfortable. You get nice linen, towels, and robes. There's a welcome pack with some basics when you arrive.
The owners live on site. They're helpful if you need anything. There's a shared honesty room with books, DVDs, and games you can borrow.
Stirling is about four miles away. It's a good small city. The castle is worth a visit, and the Wallace Monument is just outside. There are shops, restaurants, and a cinema.
You're well placed for getting around. The M9 motorway junction is five miles away, so you can be in Edinburgh or Glasgow in under an hour. Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park is about a 20-mile drive to the west. There are plenty of golf courses nearby, including Gleneagles which is about 35 minutes' drive.
For walking, you don't even need to drive. One of the best cliff-top walks in the area starts right from the cottages.
For facilities, it's got the usual: WiFi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine. Parking is right outside. They can provide a cot and highchair. No pets, sorry.
