Kestrel Cottage is one of a few cottages here in Auchenbowie. It's about four miles from Stirling city centre, but you wouldn't know it from here. It's quiet. The view from the cottage is over the owners' loch, which is about 120 acres. They live on site if you need anything.
It sleeps two. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's quite nice inside. They've done it up well. Towels and bedding are included. There's an honesty room on site with books and DVDs you can borrow.
The place is named after the birds you see here. Ospreys are on the loch in season. The cliffs on the far side of the water make a good backdrop. The best local walk starts right from the cottages. It goes along the cliff top.
Stirling is close for shops, pubs, and restaurants. The castle and the Wallace Monument are there. The University means it's busy year-round. For a bigger day out, you can drive to Edinburgh, Glasgow, or Perth quite easily from the motorway junction, which is about five miles away.
Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park is about twenty miles west. If you like golf, there are courses nearby. Gleneagles is about thirty-five minutes by car.
Facilities in the cottage: there's a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and parking. It's baby and toddler friendly – they provide a cot, highchair, and stairgate. No pets, sorry.
