Pennan Lodge

This is Pennan Lodge. It's on a farm just outside the village. You're up on the headland, so the views out to sea are pretty good. It's a semi-detached cottage, one of two up here. You get your own bit of garden.

It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean. Everything is on the ground floor, which is handy.

The village of Pennan is a five-minute walk down the hill. It's that row of houses you see in the bay from here. There's a pub there. The famous red phone box is there too, from the film. The shop is about four miles away in Gardenstown.

You're on a working farm. There are sheep and cows about. The coastal path is right there if you want to walk. A short walk along the headland gets you to Troup Head, which is a nature reserve with a lot of seabirds. You can see the gannet colony from the cottage. The Scottish Wildlife Trust has information about it.

Seals are often in the bay. If you're lucky, you might see dolphins or whales further out.

Facilities: there's parking, a washing machine, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot if you need one. The shower is a walk-in one. No pets, sorry.

If you're planning trips, the National Trust for Scotland page for this area might be useful. For local walks and the coast, NatureScot has good maps.
