Ruach

This is Ruach. It's in Gardenstown, up on the north Aberdeenshire coast. It's a terraced cottage, so you're joined to the neighbours on one side. The main thing about it is the view. The living room upstairs has big windows and French doors looking straight out to sea. Nothing in the way. You get sunsets from there, or from the enclosed garden out the back.

It sleeps five. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms, which helps. It's a 3 Star place. That means it's comfortable and has what you need, without being luxurious. It's bright.

The village is built on a steep hill. The beach is about 350 yards down that hill. It's a proper walk back up. The local shop, pub, and a restaurant are a few hundred yards away, all on the level part of the village. You can walk along the coast to the next village, Crovie, but check the path is open. Boat trips sometimes go from the harbour. You might see dolphins.

For bigger shops, Banff is about a 20-minute drive. Fraserburgh, with its lighthouse museum, is about half an hour. If you want castles, Dunnottar Castle near Stonehaven is spectacular and about 45 minutes south. The National Trust has a few other properties around here too.

What's there: parking on site, a washing machine, dishwasher, a woodburning stove for cooler evenings, and wifi. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you have a little one. No pets, sorry.
