Barnhill Bothy is a detached cottage next to our house near Beattock. It's in about three acres of our land that you can walk around. It's quiet here. You get sheep in the fields, not much else.
It's a one bedroom place, sleeps two. There's one bathroom with a walk-in shower. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean but not luxurious. Everything is on one level, which is useful. The kitchen, living area and bedroom are all open plan.
You've got a private enclosed patio garden out the front with a table and chairs. It gets the sun in the morning. There's parking right outside.
Inside, there's a TV, WiFi, and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. We allow pets, up to three.
The town of Moffat is about three miles away. It's a nice place to wander, has a few shops, a couple of bakeries, and a famous toffee shop. There's a park with a boating lake. The nearest pub and a shop are about two miles down the road in Beattock village.
For walking, you're right on the edge of the hills. The Southern Upland Way passes nearby. The Devil's Beef Tub is a dramatic hollow in the hills you can walk to. The Grey Mare's Tail waterfall is about a fifteen minute drive, it's a National Trust for Scotland site. There's fishing and golf not far away.
If you want to drive further, you can get to Dumfries in about forty minutes, or across to the Borders. Glasgow is just over an hour if you need a city.
