The Annexe is in Knaresborough. It's a one-bedroom place attached to our house, but it's separate and private. You get the bit of garden out the front to yourself. It sleeps three, and has a 4 Star rating. It's modern and clean, more functional than luxurious.
The town centre, with all the shops and pubs, is about five minutes' walk away. There's a decent local pub that does food a few hundred yards down the road. The train station is close, which is handy.
Knaresborough itself is good for a wander. The river and the castle are the main things to see. You can hire a rowing boat. Mother Shipton's Cave is the famous local attraction, where the water turns things to stone. It's a bit quirky but people seem to like it.
Harrogate is about ten minutes in the car. That's where you'll find Betty's Tea Rooms, the Turkish Baths, and more posh shops. York is half an hour away by car or train, which is easy for a day trip.
For walking, the Nidd Gorge is nice. It's just upstream from the town. The Beryl Burton cycle path goes from here to Harrogate and Ripley without using roads.
The Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors are both within an hour's drive if you want to get right out into the countryside. The coast, like Whitby, is a bit further.
It has parking right outside. There's a washing machine, and all the bedding and towels are included. The TV has the main Freeview channels. No pets, I'm afraid.
