Liftingstane Dairy Cottage is a barn conversion next to our other place, Liftingstane Cottage. It's on the farm here in Kirkpatrick. It's a rural spot in the Nith Valley, about four miles from Thornhill.
The cottage sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathrooms, which is handy. It's got a 5 Star rating, so it's well equipped and comfortable. Everything's on one level, so no stairs to worry about.
You've got a patio and garden that's enclosed, so it's secure. There's a woodburning stove for cooler nights, and a BBQ. We include all bedding and towels. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and parking right outside.
You can bring up to two dogs. We've got a cot and highchair if you need them.
The place is quiet. You'll hear the sheep. The village shop is about a mile away. The nearest pub and restaurant is in Closeburn, three miles.
From here, you're well placed for getting out. There's walking and cycling from the door. Thornhill has a local 18-hole golf course. The River Nith is good for fishing. Drumlanrig Castle is very close, and the mountain biking at the 7 Stanes trails is a big draw.
Dumfries is about 20 minutes south if you need bigger shops, a leisure centre, or farm parks for kids. The Galloway Forest Park, which is a Dark Sky Park, is within half an hour. The Solway coast is about the same drive, with places like Kippford and Sandyhills.
If you fancy a day trip, Glasgow, Edinburgh, or Carlisle are all roughly an hour and a half away by car.
This cottage can be booked with the other two properties on the farm if you're coming as a bigger group.
