Liftingstane Farmhouse Kirkpatrick

Liftingstane Farmhouse is near the village of Closeburn, about three miles from Thornhill. It's a detached farmhouse, so you're on your own. The views are good. It's peaceful.

It sleeps eight in four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It has a 5 Star rating. The place was refurbished a few years ago so it's in good order. The main room is a big open plan kitchen, dining and living area. There's a second sitting room with a wood burner in a large fireplace.

The garden is enclosed, so it's fine for dogs. You can bring up to two.

For things to do, walking and cycling are straightforward from the door. Thornhill has a golf course. The River Nith is nearby for fishing. Drumlanrig Castle is close. The mountain biking trails at the 7 Stanes are a big draw if that's your thing.

Dumfries is about 20 minutes south. They've got swimming, shopping, that sort of thing. If you head the other way, Galloway Forest Park is good for a drive and it's a Dark Sky Park. The coast around Kippford or Kirkcudbright is about a 40-minute drive.

You're fairly central here. You can get to Glasgow, Edinburgh, or Carlisle in about an hour and a half if you want a day trip.

For facilities, it's got what you'd expect: washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV, parking. Bedding and towels are included. There's bike storage if you need it.

There's a shop about a mile away. The nearest pub and restaurant are in Thornhill, three miles.
