Liftingstane Cottage

Liftingstane Cottage is on our farm, near Kirkpatrick. It's a converted barn, semi-detached. You get your own bit of garden with it, and it's quiet here.

It sleeps five. Two bedrooms, plus two bathrooms which is handy. One bathroom is a wet room on the ground floor. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well put together and has everything you'd need. We've left a travel cot and highchair in there for anyone with a baby.

The place is all on one level inside, except the stairs up to the bedrooms. They're fine, just normal stairs. There's a woodburning stove for colder nights, and a dishwasher and washing machine. You can park right outside.

We're in the Nith Valley. There's a shop about a mile away in Closeburn. The nearest pub doing food is in Thornhill, about three miles. Thornhill has an 18-hole golf course if you're into that. The River Nith is good for fishing.

Drumlanrig Castle is very close, maybe a ten minute drive. It's a big attraction. Dumfries is about twenty minutes south if you need more shops, swimming, or things like that.

Further out, you've got the Galloway Forest Park. It's a Dark Sky Park, so good for stargazing if it's clear. The Solway coast is about forty minutes away, places like Southerness. You can be in Glasgow or Edinburgh in under an hour and a half if you fancied a day trip.

You can bring up to two dogs. There's bicycle storage if you're bringing bikes.
