Liftingstane Cottage is near the village of Kirkpatrick in Dumfriesshire. It's a converted steading, which means it's a barn that's been made into a house. It's semi-detached, part of the old farm. There's another cottage and a farmhouse on the same site if you've got a bigger group.
It sleeps five, in two bedrooms. Both bedrooms have their own bathrooms, which is handy. There's a wet room on the ground floor too. It's got a 5 Star rating, so everything is in good order.
You're in the Nith Valley, so it's rural. The nearest decent-sized shop is in Thornhill, about four miles away. There's a pub that does food three miles from the door.
The garden is yours to use. It gets the sun in the evening. There's a barbecue and space to store bikes if you bring them.
Inside, it's open plan downstairs. There's a woodburning stove for cooler nights. Everything you'd expect is there: washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a travel cot and a highchair.
You can bring up to two dogs.
For things to do, you're well placed. Thornhill has an 18-hole golf course. The River Nith is known for fishing. Drumlanrig Castle is close by. Galloway Forest Park is about a 40 minute drive. It's a Dark Sky Park, good for stargazing if that's your interest.
Dumfries is twenty minutes south if you need a big supermarket or things like a swimming pool. The Solway Coast is within half an hour, places like Southerness or Kippford. You can get to Glasgow or Edinburgh in about an hour and a half if you fancy a city day.
