The Ploughmans is on our working farm in Balfron. It’s one of two cottages, built from the old farm stone, set in a courtyard next to our house. You’re surrounded by fields with cattle and sheep.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one double and one twin. There’s one family bathroom. It has a 4 Star rating, so it’s well-equipped and comfortable. The stairs are standard, no surprises.
You get your own enclosed garden through French doors. It's a quiet spot with views over the countryside. Good for sitting out.
We’re in Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. It’s very peaceful here, but you’re well placed for getting out. If you’re interested, I can show you around the modern dairy setup, just ask in advance. We also have fishing on our private stretch of the Endrick River, free for guests.
The local shop and pub are about three miles away in the village. They’re good. For a bigger shop or more places to eat, Stirling is about 18 miles. The castle and the Wallace Monument are there.
Within half an hour’s drive you’ve got a lot. Loch Lomond for boat trips. The Trossachs Discovery Centre for local history. There are a few whisky distilleries around, like Glengoyne which isn’t far. The Rob Roy Way and Cycle Route 7 pass close by if you’re walking or cycling.
Facilities wise: it’s got a washing machine, TV, WiFi, and parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. One well-behaved dog is welcome. There's a BBQ you can use.
