The Ploughmans Balfron

The Ploughmans is a cottage in Balfron, about halfway between Glasgow and Loch Lomond. It's on a working farm, so you'll see cows and sheep in the fields. It's semi-detached, and you get your own enclosed garden area.

It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. One double, one twin. One bathroom, with a shower over the bath. It's got a Four Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. Good WiFi and TV. Parking is right outside.

The stairs are standard. The kitchen has what you need to cook a proper meal. There's a washing machine, towels and bedding are included, and we can provide a cot and highchair.

You're allowed one well-behaved dog. The garden is enclosed, but it's not fortress-level secure so keep an eye on them.

The location is quiet. The nearest shop and pub are in Balfron village, about three miles away. They have the essentials.

You're right in Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. If you fish, we have a stretch of the Endrick River you can use. Walking and cycling routes are on the doorstep, including the Rob Roy Way. Loch Lomond shores are a 15-20 minute drive. For a boat trip, try Loch Lomond Cruises or sail on Loch Katrine.

Within half an hour you can get to Stirling for the castle and the Wallace Monument. There are a few whisky distilleries around too, like Glengoyne. Doune Castle, which has been in a lot of films, is about 25 minutes away.
