Beul-An-Latha is our cottage in St Abbs. It's the one with the green door on the terrace of old fishermen's cottages, looking right down at the harbour.
It sleeps five. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. It's a 3 Star place, so it's comfortable and clean but not swanky. There's a proper coal fire in the living room. The stairs are worth mentioning: they're the original, narrow cottage stairs. You'll want to watch your step.
You can see the sea from most windows. The sun comes up over the water, which is what the Gaelic name means. The little beach is about a five minute walk through the back paths. The village shop is even closer.
St Abbs itself is tiny. There's a good harbour café, and you can watch the diving boats go out. The whole village is part of the Berwickshire Coastal Path, so you can walk straight from the door. The nature reserve at St Abbs Head is a must for the seabird colonies.
For a pint, you drive a couple of miles to Coldingham, which has a couple of pubs. Eyemouth, about five miles, is a proper working fishing town with shops and restaurants. Berwick-upon-Tweed is about a twenty minute drive south; you can get the train to Edinburgh from there in under an hour.
What's here: parking for one car right outside, a washing machine, a travel cot if you need it, bedding and towels are included. There's a small patio area out the back. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
