The Summer House is a stone cottage, it’s got a pointed roof and is Victorian. It’s in Nant y Patrick, sort of halfway between Ruthin and St Asaph on a private estate. You have your own bit of garden, about an acre and a half. There’s a sunken garden with a pond which someone told me was designed by Capability Brown once, but I can’t swear to that.
It's detached, so no one next door. It sleeps four, two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. Everything’s clean and it works. It's quite open plan inside, kitchen and living area together.
The main thing here is the view. You look out over the estate parkland and right across to the Clwydian Range. There’s a country park there for walks.
Good spot for getting to places. St Asaph is two miles, they’ve got the small cathedral and some shops. The coast is about six miles, places like Rhyl and Prestatyn for the beach.
It’s quiet. The nearest shop and pub are about two miles away in the village. If you want a proper day out, Chester’s about half an hour by car one way, Llandudno about the same the other way. Snowdonia is about forty minutes drive if the traffic’s alright.
On the facilities: there’s a washing machine, TV, WiFi, parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a highchair if you need one. No pets, I’m afraid. There’s a patio and a BBQ.
The estate has a golf course and fishing rights, you can ask about those when you book. Same with the horse riding, that’s arranged locally.
