The Pightl is on Church Farm. It's a row of three cottages and you'll be in the middle one. It's quiet here, just a few houses and a farm. We get barn owls in the evenings.
It sleeps five. Three bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-kept. The bathroom is downstairs. The stairs are a typical cottage staircase, so they turn a corner and are a bit steep.
There's a fully enclosed garden out the back for you. It's got a patio and a lawn. Inside, there's a wood burner for cooler nights, and the WiFi is decent.
You're in South Acre, which is a hamlet. Castle Acre village is about a 15 minute walk away through the fields or along the lane. It's got a couple of pubs, a shop, and a very good cafe. The village green is nice. The Norman castle and the Priory ruins are there too, run by English Heritage.
The river Nar is just at the bottom of the track. There's a little footbridge. It's shallow, so it's safe for paddling.
For getting around, the Peddars Way long-distance path is right on your doorstep for walking or cycling. The north Norfolk coast is about a 30 minute drive. That's where you get the big beaches like Brancaster and Holkham, the seal colonies at Blakeney, and the RSPB reserves at Titchwell and Snettisham. Sandringham is in that direction too.
Facilities: all the bedding is provided. There's a washing machine, a dishwasher, a cot, and a highchair. Parking is right outside the cottage. Sorry, no pets.
