The Waiting Rooms

The Waiting Rooms is in Gaisgill, Cumbria. It's a detached bungalow, converted from the old station building. We live next door. It's split-level inside, so there are a few steps between rooms. It's light and has high ceilings.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathroom. One bathroom has a walk-in shower, the other has a power shower over the bath. It's got a 4 Star rating. The furniture is simple, Scandinavian style. It's all on one floor and the entrance is step-free, which is good for wheelchairs or if you just don't fancy stairs.

You're right in the Lune Valley. It's between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales National Parks, so you can choose which way to go. The Howgill Fells are basically on the doorstep. The A685 road runs past the side of the hamlet, so you will hear some traffic. It's not a constant roar, but you know it's there.

The local pub is about a mile and a half away in a place called Newbiggin-on-Lune. There's a shop two miles away in Tebay. Tebay services are just down the road, which is useful for fuel and good food.

Kirkby Stephen is about a 15-minute drive. That's where you can catch the Settle to Carlisle railway, if you fancy that. Kendal is roughly half an hour south, and Penrith about half an hour north.

Facilities: there's a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside and an electric vehicle charger. We allow one well-behaved dog.
