Irishman's Tower is in Hoghton Bottoms, Lancashire. It's on the grounds of Hoghton Tower estate. The tower is old, a proper ancient building. It's got a 4 Star rating, which is good. It sleeps two, one bedroom with an en-suite bathroom.
You're staying in a piece of history. The ceilings are low and beamed downstairs, the walls are exposed stone upstairs. There's an open fire in the living room. The bed is king size.
The location is up on a hill, so the views across the countryside are very good. It's quiet up there.
Being on the estate, you can walk around the gardens. There's a tearoom on site. They have events sometimes, like farmers' markets or theatre. The main house, Hoghton Tower, does tours if you're interested in the history. It's been in films and things.
For getting out, the Ribble Valley is right there for walks. Clitheroe is close, it's a nice market town with a castle. The coast is about 40 minutes drive. Manchester city centre is roughly half an hour away. The Lake District is over an hour's drive.
Facilities: there's parking, WiFi, a TV, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. There's a woodburning stove. It's all electric. No pets.
