Sandilands

This is Sandilands, our house in Troon. It's a mid-terrace, set back a bit in a shared garden that's well kept. The house itself looks out over the street and the green.

It sleeps seven people. There are four bedrooms. One double is downstairs, which is handy. Upstairs there's another double and two single rooms. There's one bathroom, with a corner bath and a separate shower cubicle.

It's a 4 Star place. That means it's comfortable and well equipped. You've got a dishwasher, washing machine, wifi, parking. Bedding and towels are included. The stairs are a typical terrace house staircase.

Troon is a proper seaside town. The beach is sandy and long, good for walks. The promenade is flat, so it's easy for a stroll. The marina is there if you like looking at boats.

You're five minutes' walk from the high street. There are shops, a few supermarkets, and plenty of places to eat. Pubs, restaurants, the usual.

If you're here for the golf, you know the score. Royal Troon is here. There are other courses too. It's a big part of the town.

You can get the train to Glasgow from the station. It takes about 45 minutes. Locally, Culzean Castle is about half an hour's drive. It's worth a visit. The ferry to Arran goes from Ardrossan, which is a ten-minute drive up the coast.
