Mabon House Rhondda

Mabon House is a Victorian terrace house up on the side of Valley Road in Treorchy, part of the Rhondda. It's got a blue plaque because William Abraham, known as Mabon, used to live here. He was the first MP for the Rhondda and was big in the miners' unions.

It sleeps seven. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms. One bathroom is en-suite to the master bedroom and has a bath and shower. The other is just a shower room. On the top floor, there are two double rooms, and one of them has a small single room attached to it without a door, which is handy if you've got kids. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well kept.

The main thing is the view from the front. The living room looks straight out over the valley. You can sit with a cuppa and just watch the weather move across. There's a decent sized dining room, a kitchen with a dishwasher, and a patio out the back with a table.

There's a big garage on the site for storing bikes. You can bring one well-behaved dog.

Location wise, you're right in it. There's a local pub a short walk away. For something bigger, Zip World Tower is about five minutes drive up the road. If you want to walk, the Four Waterfalls Walk in the Brecon Beacons is stunning and about half an hour away by car. The Brecon Beacons National Park is the same sort of distance for longer hikes. Bike Park Wales is also within a 30 minute drive.

You can get the train from Treorchy station into Cardiff. It takes about an hour. Useful links for planning: Visit Wales and National Trust Wales.

Facilities: everything listed is included. That's bedding, towels, WiFi, parking, the cot and highchair, all of it. The house is decorated for Christmas if you book over that period.
