Dare Valley Cottage

Dare Valley Cottage is in Aberdare. It's a two-up two-down terrace, right in the town. You're a few minutes' walk from the train station, which is handy.

It sleeps two. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. Everything's on one level once you're inside, which is good if steps are a problem. There's a small back patio area that's just for you.

The living room has a smart TV and opens into the dining bit. It's straightforward. There's a washing machine, and the bedding and towels are provided. You can bring one dog.

Out the back, you're right on the edge of Dare Valley Country Park. You can walk straight into it from the garden gate. It's good for a proper walk or a gentle stroll. The park has a visitor centre and cafe.

Aberdare Park is Victorian and about a ten-minute walk. It has a splash park for kids and events in the summer. For a bigger day out, the Brecon Beacons are close. The Garwnant visitor centre is about a 20-minute drive and has good walks. The four waterfalls walk at Ystradfellte is spectacular, and Pen y Fan is within half an hour if you're up for it.

For something different, BikePark Wales at Merthyr is about 20 minutes away for mountain biking. Tower Zip World, which is a big zip line, is about ten minutes up the road in the valley.

Cardiff is about 40 minutes on the train from Aberdare station. It's easier than driving. For beaches, the Gower is about an hour and a quarter's drive. Porthcawl and Barry are a bit closer.
