River Lodge Annexe is a converted annexe near Ystrad in the Rhondda Valley. It’s for four people. Two bedrooms and one bathroom.
It was done up in 2022, so everything's clean and new. It's got a 4 Star rating. The main space is open plan. There's a washing machine, Wi-Fi, and parking on site. Bedding and towels are included.
The access is wheelchair friendly at the entrance. But inside, the stairs are open-tread and quite steep. Just so you know.
It's quiet here. You've got a patio and garden to yourselves. The train station is a couple of minutes' walk away. Trains to Cardiff Central take about 40 minutes. The bus stop is just as close.
Treorchy is a short drive up the valley. It's got shops and places to eat. There's a local pub too.
If you're bringing bikes, there's storage. The area is good for it. Afan Forest Park is famous for mountain biking. Bike Park Wales is about half an hour's drive. For walking, the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park isn't far. The Black Mountains are there too.
Margam Country Park is worth a trip. It's got a lot going on. Zip World is about 15 minutes away. Rhondda Heritage Park is close by if you want to learn about the mining history. For a general look at Welsh life, St Fagans National Museum of History is good. It's about 45 minutes by car.
The coast, like the Gower Peninsula, is under an hour's drive. Cardiff and Swansea are both around 45 minutes away.
