Dukes Lodge is in Bildeston. It's a 14th century building, one of the oldest in the village. It's a 5 Star place, which means it's been done up to a high standard, but it's still an old cottage. The floors slope in places and the beams are low. You have to duck in a couple of spots.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a second separate toilet. The main bedroom has a super-king bed. There's a wood burner in the living room. The garden is enclosed and private, with a patio and a bit of lawn. There's an old well out there with a safety grill over it.
Upstairs, there's an open plan sitting area. On one wall, there's a small surviving patch of what they think is a 500-year-old wall painting.
Bildeston itself has three pubs. They're all good. You're right in the Suffolk countryside here, so it's quiet.
Lavenham is about a ten minute drive. It's that Tudor village with all the crooked timber-framed buildings. Long Melford is maybe fifteen minutes, with a long high street and Antique shops. Bury St Edmunds is about twenty minutes away, that's a proper town with shopping and the Abbey gardens.
If you want to go further, you can get to the coast at Aldeburgh or Southwold in roughly 45 minutes. Constable Country around Dedham Vale is about a 30 minute drive.
For facilities: there's a washing machine, WiFi, TV, BBQ, and all bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
