The cottage is called Tigh-Na-Sgoile. It means 'house by the school', and it's next to an old school building in a hamlet called Foxhole. It's up in the Highlands, near Beauly. It's a detached, timber-clad house.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both downstairs. One's a twin with its own shower room. The other is a big room that can be a super king bed or two singles. There's a second bathroom downstairs as well.
Upstairs is all one open living space. Kitchen, dining table, sofas. There's a wood burner. The main feature is the big windows and a balcony. There's no grand view of a loch from here, but you look out over trees and fields towards the hills. It's quiet.
It's a 4 Star place, so it's well finished. Everything's included: bedding, towels, WiFi. There's a dishwasher, washing machine, parking. The garden is yours to use.
Location wise, it's rural but not isolated. You're about twenty minutes from Inverness. The southern shore of Loch Ness is about a ten minute drive. From there you can go along to Drumnadrochit or Fort Augustus.
For walking, the Great Glen Way and the Abriachan Forest trails are very close. If you want Munros, Ben Wyvis is the big one you can see. Glen Affric and Glen Strathfarrar aren't far either. Cannich, the village for those glens, is about twenty minutes by car.
Beauly is a small town about six miles away. It has shops, a couple of cafes. The NC500 route passes nearby if that's your plan.
