Old Rectory Loft

Old Rectory Loft is in Fernhurst, in West Sussex. It's a conversion in the roof space of our house, so we're on site. You have your own front door and parking.

It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and we try to provide the bits you might forget.

The stairs up to it are steep and a bit narrow, with a low bit at the top. You have to mind your head. Once you're up, it's a nice space with the old beams and boards. There's a woodburner for cooler nights.

We leave you a breakfast basket to get you started, and there's coffee, tea, and basics in the kitchen. You've got a washing machine, WiFi, and TV. A travel cot or highchair is available if you need one.

The village green is a couple of minutes walk away. There's a 16th century pub there that does lunch and dinner, with a garden. It's a good start for walks. You can walk up to Black Down, which is the highest point in the South Downs. There are tennis courts on the rec and another couple of pubs within a half hour walk, one does Indian takeaways.

By car, Petworth is about 15 minutes away. It's full of antique shops and has Petworth House. Midhurst is the same sort of distance, they have polo at Cowdray Park. Frensham Great Pond is nearby if you want to sail or swim.

Goodwood is about half an hour away for the Festival of Speed, the Revival, or racing. The coast at West Wittering is maybe 45 minutes, depending on traffic.

For walking information, the South Downs National Park site is useful.
