Auld Dairy Cottage

Auld Dairy Cottage is in Kirkmaiden, near Drummore. It's a detached cottage that used to be a farm dairy. You get the whole place and the garden to yourselves.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. One bedroom and bathroom is on the ground floor. It's a 4 Star place, which means it's comfortable and well kept. The living room is big and has French doors out to the garden. The view from there is the best thing. You look right over the fields to Luce Bay and the Galloway Hills.

Drummore village is about a twenty minute walk down a quiet lane. It's a small fishing place with a beach and a harbour. There's a shop and a couple of pubs there for basics.

For walks, you can start right from the door. The Southern Upland Way long-distance path is nearby. The Mull of Galloway is about five miles south. It's the southernmost point in Scotland. The lighthouse is there and the views are huge, you can see Ireland and Cumbria on a clear day. The RSPB nature reserve there is good for seabirds.

Other things within half an hour's drive: Logan Botanic Garden is famous for its plants. Stranraer has Agnew Park for boating and a play park. There's local golf and fishing if that's your thing.

Facilities: it has a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking for a couple of cars on the gravel drive. The garden is enclosed. No pets allowed, sorry.
