Hammy's Cottage

This is Hammy's Cottage in Drummore. It's right down at the tip of the Rhins, Scotland's most southerly point. A proper village, not just a holiday spot. You can walk to the beach from here in about two minutes.

It's a two-up-two-down cottage. Sleeps four, with a double bedroom and a twin room. One bathroom with a shower. The rating is 4 Star. It's warm and dry, and it's got a wood burner in the living room. The back door opens onto a private, walled courtyard. It gets the sun when there is any.

The stairs are a bit steep, as you'd expect. It's not huge, but it's comfortable. There's a washing machine, and bedding and towels are included. WiFi works fine. You can bring two dogs.

Drummore has a shop and a couple of places to eat. The pub is about a mile up the road. The beach is shingle and sand, and looks out over Luce Bay. You often see seals.

If you want to go out, the Logan Botanical Garden is about ten minutes' drive. It's good even if you're not a big gardener. The RSPB reserve at the Mull of Galloway is about fifteen minutes away. The lighthouse there is the very bottom of Scotland. You can see the Isle of Man on a clear day.

Portpatrick is about half an hour north. It's a pretty harbour village. Stranraer is the same sort of distance for bigger supermarkets. There are some coastal walks right from the cottage, or you can drive to sections of the Southern Upland Way.
