Blaen Y Cwm is near Carno in Powys. It's off-grid, so no mains electricity. The lights are solar powered. In winter, if there's not enough sun, we leave oil lamps for you.
The thick stone walls keep it cool in summer. In winter, the Rayburn heats the kitchen and the hot water. There's a wood burner in the living room too. It's warm enough.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's a very old cottage, so the floors aren't level. You just get used to it.
There's no TV or Wi-Fi. If you need a phone charge, bring a power bank. The fridge is solar, the hob runs on gas. You're really out here.
The views are the main thing. No neighbours, just fields and sheep. You can see for miles. There's a wood-fired hot tub. It takes a while to heat up, but it's worth it. The garden is enclosed.
You can walk straight from the door. Newtown is a short drive away for shops and pubs. The coast at Aberdyfi is about 45 minutes by car. Southern Snowdonia is easy to get to as well.
For planning, the Visit Wales and Snowdonia National Park websites are useful.
Things here: All bedding and towels are included. There's a cot, a highchair, and a stairgate. Parking is right outside. Sorry, no pets.
