This cosy, semi-detached hideaway is situated on the beautiful Dunskey Estate with wonderful walks directly from the door. The owner lives on site and is on hand should you need advice or assistance during your stay. A short walk through the estate takes you into the village of Portpatrick with its charming harbour and superb views out to sea. The surrounding coastline is simply stunning with clifftop walks, rocky coves and sandy beaches. With the Southern Upland Way passing close by, the area offers everything from gentle walks to challenging hikes. There are also many coastal villages to explore in the area. The town of Stranraer is 7½ miles away with shops, restaurants, pubs and the Castle of St John.
Wildlife is abundant with many unusual species including pine martens, golden eagle, ospreys, red deer, red squirrels and the natterjack toad. The RSPB Mull of Galloway Visitor Centre and Lighthouse with thousands of nesting birds on the cliffs is well worth a visit. At the northern end of the Rhins Peninsula is Corsewall Lighthouse with a restaurant and bar.
Enjoy sea fishing from Portpatrick and both trout and salmon fishing close by. Other country pursuits are available including shooting and riding. Golf is also available with Dunskey Golf Course in the village and Lagganmore, 2 miles. For an alternative day out, day trips to Ireland can be taken from Cairnryan. Beach ¾ mile.
