The Old Sweet Shop is in Hook Norton, right in the middle of the village. It's a 17th century cottage that used to be a sweet shop. It's Grade II listed.
It sleeps six people in three bedrooms. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, which is useful. We allow up to two dogs.
It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's comfortable and well looked after. It's full of old features like beams and a big inglenook fireplace. There's a separate games room downstairs with a console for kids.
The stairs are steep and narrow, like you'd expect in an old cottage. The doors are low in places too.
You're a couple of minutes walk from two pubs. They both serve food and sell the beer from the Hook Norton Brewery. The brewery does tours and has a visitor centre, which is worth a visit. There's a village shop about the same distance away.
For a bigger town, Chipping Norton is about ten minutes by car. It's got cafes, pubs, and some antique shops.
You're on the edge of the Cotswolds. Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water and Moreton-in-Marsh are all within a half hour drive. Blenheim Palace in Woodstock is about 25 minutes away. Oxford is around 40 minutes. Stratford-upon-Avon is about 45 minutes.
What's here: a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, WiFi, and an enclosed garden with a barbecue. Bedding and towels are included. We have a cot and highchair if you need them. The cottage gets decorated for Christmas if you're staying over that period.
