The Old Stables

The Old Stables is our place in Swerford, Oxfordshire. It's a single-storey cottage converted from a stone farm building, so it's all on ground level. That and the underfloor heating make it warm and easy to get around.

It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's been finished to a high standard. It's very clean and comfortable. The bed is a Hypnos. The shower is good and powerful.

There's a wood burner for the colder months. Outside there's an enclosed garden with a hot tub and a gas BBQ. You're welcome to use the herb and vegetable garden next to the cottage too.

The cottage is on our working farm. We keep alpacas, goats, donkeys, sheep, and chickens. It's generally quiet, but you'll hear the animals sometimes. The farm is strictly no smoking anywhere.

There's a pub about a mile away in the village that does food. The nearest shop is in Hook Norton, three miles away. They have a good village shop and the Hook Norton Brewery is there if you're interested.

You're right on the edge of the Cotswolds. Chipping Norton is about ten minutes by car. It's a proper market town with independent shops and places to eat. From there, you can easily get to Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water, and Moreton-in-Marsh.

Other places within half an hour's drive include Banbury, Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, and Bicester for the outlet shopping. Oxford is about 40 minutes away. Stratford-upon-Avon is around 35 minutes.

For facilities, you've got a washing machine, dishwasher, Wi-Fi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside.
