The Ashes is on our farm at Low Dinsdale. It's a detached stone building that sleeps up to ten people. There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms.
It has a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean but not luxurious. The main thing is the space. You get the whole place to yourselves, plus about 130 acres of grounds to walk around. There's a stretch of the River Tees running through it where you can fish, if that's your thing. The owner's put in an arboretum with a lot of different trees, which is nice for a stroll.
It's a working farm, so you'll see sheep and cattle. We live on the estate, so we're about if you need anything. We can sometimes arrange activities like fishing or getting cycles out for you. Just ask ahead of time.
The local pub, The Dun Cow, is in Neasham village, about two miles away. They do food. The nearest shop is about the same distance.
For days out, you're in a good spot. The North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is on the doorstep. Richmond and Yarm are nice market towns, about a 20-25 minute drive. The coast, Northumberland and its castles, or the Yorkshire Dales are all within an hour's drive. The Lake District is about an hour and a half.
Facilities: the place has a woodburning stove, a washing machine, dishwasher, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. There's parking right outside. You can bring up to three dogs.
If you're planning walks or visits, these sites are useful: North Pennines AONB and National Trust North East.
