The Byre Laurieston

The Byre is one of three cottages here at Grobdale. They were converted in 2020 from old farm buildings. It's a detached stone place set around a courtyard.

It sleeps four in two bedrooms. Both bedrooms have their own bathroom, which is handy. The living area is all open plan with a wood burner. The kitchen has a dishwasher. The rating is 5 Star, which means it's well finished and comfortable.

You have access to 65 acres of land here. It's a working farm, so you'll see sheep and maybe cattle. It's very quiet. The Galloway Forest Park starts just up the road.

The location is rural. Gatehouse of Fleet is the nearest town, about six miles away. It has a couple of shops, a pharmacy, and places to eat. The coast is about ten miles. Good beaches there are Mossyard and Cardoness.

For things to do, Kirkcudbright is worth a visit, about a 20 minute drive. It's known for artists and has a decent harbour. There's mountain biking in the forest park, and local fishing if that's your thing. There's a golf course not far away either.

On facilities: parking is right outside. There's WiFi, a TV, and a washer. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. We provide a cot and highchair if needed.
