Ramerish Retreat

Ramerish Retreat is a converted stable block in Laurieston. It’s in Galloway Forest Park, which is a big, quiet area with loads of walks right from the door. The sky at night is very dark here, which is good for seeing stars.

It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. There’s one bathroom. The place has a 5 Star rating, which means it’s well-equipped and comfortable. It’s open plan inside. The garden has a little observatory hut you can use for birdwatching or just sitting. There’s a wood burner for cooler evenings.

You can bring up to two dogs. There’s a specific dog wash area outside with a heated shower and towels, which people seem to like.

The nearest shop and pub are about six miles away in the village. It’s a rural spot, so you drive to get most things. The coast and a beach are about thirteen miles.

Loch Ken is nearby for water sports if you want that, like sailing or paddleboarding. They also have an adventure park with things like a zip wire. For fishing, you can get a permit for the local loch.

The towns of Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright are within a half hour drive for more shops, places to eat, and things like galleries or castles.

Facilities include a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and parking. There’s also an electric vehicle charger. Bedding and towels are included. They provide a cot and highchair if you need them. The entrance is wheelchair accessible.
