Northfork Cottage is up near Reiss, between Wick and John O'Groats. It's detached, so no neighbours on the other side of a wall. You look out over paddocks to Sinclair's Bay.
It's for two people, one bedroom and one shower room. There's a second room with a single futon if someone wants to use it, but it's really a reading room. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and everything works.
The main thing is the view. The big window in the living room faces the sea. You can sit there and watch the water all day. The light changes constantly. You can see the beach, the golf links, Ackergill Tower, and the lighthouse at Noss Head. You can tell what the sea crossing to Orkney might be like just by looking.
It's about a mile to walk down to Reiss Sands, which is a long beach. Wick Golf Club is very close if that's your thing. Wick town is a few miles for shops.
You're well placed for driving to places. John O'Groats is about 15 minutes north. Duncansby Head and the stacks are a bit further on. The Castle of Mey is west along the coast. Getting to Orkney means going to Scrabster or Gills Bay for the ferry, but it's a straightforward day trip if the weather's decent.
Inside, it's open plan living, kitchen, and dining. There's a utility room by the front door with the washing machine. It has a dishwasher, TV, WiFi, and parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. One well-behaved dog is allowed.
