The Cottage

The Cottage is near the village of Howe, up in the far north of the Scottish Highlands. It's a single storey building, part of a group around a courtyard at Barrock House. It sleeps two, one bedroom and one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, which is about right. It's clean and comfortable.

You're in the grounds here, with woodland and gardens. It's quiet. You'll see birds. You can walk around the land.

The coast is close. You can drive to Sinclair Bay or Dunnet Bay in about five minutes. They're good beaches. The coastline here is rugged, lots of walking.

For things to do, the Castle of Mey is nearby. That was the Queen Mother's place. John O'Groats isn't far. Wick has the heritage centre. You can get the ferry over to Orkney from Scrabster, which is about a 20 minute drive. It's easy for a day trip.

There's a shop, a pub, and a restaurant about four and a half miles away in Halkirk. Thurso is about 15 minutes by car.

What's here: there's a washing machine, a TV, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. You can park right outside. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
