The Cottage

It's called The Cottage. It's in the Highlands, a few miles south of Dunnet Bay. You're on a place called Barrock Estate, which is basically a few houses around a courtyard. It's quiet. There are woods around it so you see a lot of birds.

The place is for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It’s got a 3 star rating, so it's clean and has what you need but don’t expect anything fancy. You can bring two dogs.

You’re a five minute drive from Sinclair Bay and Dunnet Beach. Both are good for walks. Dunnet is a long sandy beach.

If you want to go out for the day, the Castle of Mey is about 15 minutes away. John O'Groats is maybe 25 minutes. You can get the ferry to Orkney from there. It's a good day out if the weather's okay. Thurso is the main town, about 15 miles away. Wick is a bit closer, to the south.

There's a shop and a pub about four and a half miles away in Lyth. They do food.

What's here: there's a washing machine, a TV, and Wi-Fi. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. You get your own parking spot right outside.

The place next door, called The Ivy Wing, can be booked together if you’ve got more people.

If you're looking for ideas, the National Trust for Scotland page for the Castle of Mey has visiting times. For beaches and trails, NatureScot is useful.
