The Ivy Wing is one half of the old stables at Barrock House, near Howe. You get your own bit of garden out the front. It's surrounded by the estate's woods and fields, so it's quiet.
It sleeps five. Three bedrooms and one bathroom. It's a 3 Star place, so it's comfortable and clean, not modern luxury. The kitchen has what you need. There's a woodburning stove for the evenings.
You're a five minute drive from Sinclair Bay and Dunnet Bay. Dunnet Beach is really good for a long walk. The Castle of Mey, the Queen Mother's old place, is about ten minutes away by car.
John O'Groats is 20 minutes north. You can get the ferry to Orkney from there or from Scrabster, which is near Thurso. It's a good day trip. Thurso and Wick are your nearest proper towns for shops, about 15 and 20 minutes away respectively. There's a shop and a pub at Lyth, about five miles from the cottage.
If you like walking, the coastline here is all cliffs and beaches. For birdwatching, Dunnet Head is close. The whole area is good for that.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside. We can take up to two dogs.
