Church View

Church View is in Wick, up in the far north-east. It's a house that looks out, as you'd guess, onto the old St John's church.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's graded as a 3 Star place. That means it's comfortable and clean, but it's got no pretensions. It's a good, solid house.

Inside it's all open-plan downstairs. Kitchen, dining, living area. The shower is good and strong. The garden at the back is small and enclosed, with a seating area. You can park right outside.

Wick itself is a proper old town. You can see its history just walking about. There's a good few places to eat and drink now. The local links golf course is excellent. Reiss Sands beach is a short drive away.

Being on the North Coast 500 route, it's a useful spot. But I'd say it's better as a base. Don't just rush through. Stay a few nights. You can see John O'Groats and Duncansby Head easily. The Castle of Old Wick is right on the cliffs nearby. If you want to go further, you can get the ferry over to Orkney from Scrabster or Gills Bay.

For walks and historic sites, the Historic Environment Scotland site is useful.

A washer and dryer are there, bedding and towels are included. There's Wi-Fi. Sorry, no pets.
