Curlew Cottage Johnstonebridge

Curlew Cottage is in Johnstonebridge, about two miles from Lockerbie. It's detached, on its own bit of land, and it looks out across fields towards the Moffat Hills. The view from the back is really the main thing.

It sleeps six, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It was completely renovated a couple of years ago, so everything works and feels fresh. It's got a 4 Star rating, which seems about right. It's comfortable, not overly fancy.

The living room has these low windows to make the most of the view. There's also a small snug room with an open fire for cooler evenings. The kitchen is a good size for a group. Outside, there's a decent garden, a patio, and a wood-fired hot tub. The skies at night are very dark here, so you get a good view of the stars if it's clear.

It's a rural spot, on a working farm, so you'll see sheep and maybe hear a tractor. Lockerbie is your nearest proper town for shops and a few places to eat. It has a train station, so a day trip to Glasgow or Edinburgh is straightforward if you want that.

Within about half an hour, you've got Moffat, which is a nice town for a wander and some food. You're close to the Southern Upland Way for walking. For cycling, the 7Stanes mountain biking trails at Ae Forest or Glentress are within easy reach. The Solway coast is about a forty-minute drive, with some quiet beaches.

As for the place itself, the main things are: it's all on one level with no steps at the entrance, which is handy. There's parking right outside, an electric vehicle charger, WiFi, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
