St James Cottage

St James Cottage is in Shaftesbury. It's about 500 years old, Grade II listed, and has a thatched roof. It's at the foot of Gold Hill, which is quite quiet but the town centre is only a short walk away.

The cottage sleeps four. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. There are two doubles and one room with bunk beds. It has a 4 Star rating.

The layout is a bit quirky. The bedrooms are on the first and second floors. The stairs are narrow and steep in parts.

You've got a wood burner in the living room. The kitchen is large with a dining area. Towels and bedding are included. There's a washing machine and a dishwasher.

The garden is up a flight of steps from the house. There's a patio area with a table and a BBQ.

Shaftesbury has pubs, cafes, and independent shops. Gold Hill is famous from the Hovis ad. The views from there are very good.

You can walk straight out onto footpaths into the Blackmore Vale countryside.

Within about half an hour's drive, you can be at Old Sarum or in the centre of Salisbury. The Kingston Lacy estate is about 45 minutes. The Jurassic Coast, like Lulworth Cove, is just over an hour away.
