Gilbertson Cottage

Gilbertson Cottage is in Wheldrake, a small village about six miles south east of York. It's a detached cottage so you're not sharing walls.

The cottage sleeps eight overall. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Two of the rooms have king size beds, one has single beds that can be zipped together into a super king if you prefer. One of the kingsize rooms has a four poster bed and a small click-clack sofa bed for extra guests. The mattresses are Hypnos ones, so they're comfortable. The house has a 5 Star rating, which means it's been finished to a high spec.

The main living area is open plan. Kitchen, dining space, and lounge all in one big room. There's a separate snug room too. The kitchen has granite worktops, a dishwasher, a washing machine, and a Nespresso coffee machine. Glass doors from the snug lead out to the patio.

The garden wraps around the cottage and is fully enclosed. There's outdoor seating, a barbecue, and a hot tub with Bluetooth speakers.

Facilities included: all bedding and towels, a cot, a highchair, a stairgate, WiFi, TV, and parking on the drive. There is an electric vehicle charger. The heating and electricity are included. No pets, sorry.

Wheldrake has a local pub. The village is quiet and rural, so you’ll need a car.

York is about a 15-20 minute drive. You've got the Minster, the Shambles, the National Railway Museum, boat trips on the Ouse, and the Jorvik Viking Centre. You can walk the city walls.

To the north and east, you can get to the North York Moors National Park in under half an hour for walking. The coast at places like Scarborough, Whitby, and Filey is about an hour's drive. Castle Howard is roughly 30 minutes away.
