The Lodge

The Lodge is in North Duffield. It's a modern house that sleeps fourteen. We built it a few years ago to be used by big groups, families or friends. There's seven bedrooms and, importantly, seven bathrooms. So no one's ever queuing.

The main house has five bedrooms, all ensuite. The living space is open plan. There's a big kitchen table that seats everyone. The TV is large and has Sky and Apple TV. There's also a mini grand piano. It plays itself if you just want background music. Underfloor heating, a wood burner. It's a comfortable space.

Out the back there's a terrace with a hot tub, a big hammock, and a lawn. There's a barbecue at the front. Parking for several cars and an electric vehicle charger.

Across the garden is what we call The Garage. It's a separate building. Downstairs is a games room with a full-size pool table, air hockey, football table, some arcade games and a jukebox. It has a little kitchenette and bar area. Upstairs are two more bedrooms and two more bathrooms. It gives a bit of separation if some of your group want to stay up later.

A couple of practical things. The property has a 5 Star rating, which reflects the standard. Some of the stairs, particularly the spiral staircase to the games room loft, are steep. Just something to be aware of.

You're right next to Skipwith Common, which is a National Nature Reserve. Good for a walk straight from the door. Skipwith Common NNR.

York is about a twenty minute drive. You've got the Minster, the Shambles, the railway museum, all of it. The McArthur Glen outlet is on that road. The nearest shop and a couple of pubs are in the village, about a mile and a half away.

Included: all bedding, towels, WiFi, and the electricity for your stay. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, a cot and highchair if needed. No pets, sorry.

A couple of useful links for planning: City of York Council for tourist info, and North York Moors National Park if you head to the coast.
