Rumbolds Retreat
Rumbolds Retreat is a 16th-century farmhouse in Plaistow, West Sussex. It sleeps twelve, with six bedrooms and five bathrooms. That's useful with a big group. It's got a 4 Star rating.
The house is very old. You notice the beams and the big inglenook fireplace. The floors are slate in the kitchen. It's a proper period house, not a modern copy. The stairs are original, so mind your head in places.
It's on a working farm. The main barn next to you dates from 1578. You've got your own garden area, and you're free to wander the farm's 130 acres. There are footpaths right from the gate into the woods.
There's a shop and a pub about half a mile down the road. The pub does food.
For things to do, Petworth House is about ten minutes away by car. Goodwood, for the motor circuit and the racecourse, is within half an hour. So is the Weald & Downland Living Museum, which is good if you like old buildings and how things worked. The South Downs are close for walking. If you want the coast, it's about thirty minutes to the Wittering beaches.
The house has a wood burner, a dishwasher, a washing machine, and WiFi. Bedding is included. There's parking. We can provide a cot and a highchair if you need them. No pets, sorry.
