The Cowstall
The Cowstall is in Blackboys, which is about 15-20 minutes drive north of Uckfield. It's a detached, converted farm building. It's just you and the fields.
It's for a couple. One bedroom up on a mezzanine, one bathroom downstairs. It's got a 4 Star rating. Everything's clean and in good order. The stairs are an open-tread oak staircase. They're fine, but you need to watch your step coming down.
Inside, it's all open plan downstairs. There are beams and oak floors. You get the French doors opening onto a terrace that looks out over the fields. It's quiet.
There's a shop, a pub, and a restaurant about half a mile down the road. The pub is old, from the 1300s. You can walk to it from the cottage along the footpaths.
The area is good for walking. You're between the South Downs and Ashdown Forest. The South Downs National Park is about a 20 minute drive south. Ashdown Forest is about 15 minutes north. The Weald Way long-distance path goes through nearby.
Within half an hour's drive, you've got Sheffield Park Gardens, the Bluebell Railway, and the Llama Park. Glyndebourne opera house is about 10 miles away.
For facilities: it's got a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and parking for two cars on the gravel drive. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. There's a cot and highchair if you need them.
