The Cowstall is just outside Blackboys village in East Sussex. It’s a detached place, converted from an old farm building. You’re a few miles inland from the South Downs.
It’s for two people. One bedroom on a mezzanine level up some stairs from the living area. Those stairs are spiral and a bit steep, so watch your step. Everything’s included – bedding, towels, wifi.
You’ve got a small terrace with a table and chairs out the back. It’s south-facing so it catches the sun. The view is over fields. It’s quiet.
Inside, it’s been done out with oak floors and there are beams. It’s comfortable. There’s a TV, dishwasher, washing machine. Parking for two cars right outside.
The village shop and a pub are about half a mile away. The pub is called The Blackboys Inn. It serves food and has been there a very long time. It’s an easy walk from the cottage.
You’re right between the South Downs and Ashdown Forest. You can walk straight out from the door into the countryside. The Weald Way long-distance path is nearby if you want a proper trek. The Bluebell Railway is a popular trip, about a 15 minute drive.
Towns like Lewes, Uckfield and Heathfield are all within a 20 minute drive for bigger shops. The coast at Eastbourne or Brighton is about 40 minutes by car.
Two well-behaved dogs are welcome. We leave a highchair and travel cot in the cupboard under the stairs if you need them.
